Central Arizona College Nursing Division ~ Official Dress Code
All students must present themselves in a professional manner at all times while enrolled in the nursing program. The official nursing program uniform must be worn at all clinical experiences unless directed otherwise. The following guidelines are mandatory for students to remain in compliance with the professional dress code:
1. Students are the wear the official program uniform in all clinical settings unless setting or agency requires other clinical attire. White tops with CAC logo and hunter green pants are the official uniform. Only the official student uniform jacket may be worn over the uniform. Picture ID badge is worn upper left side of uniform at all times while in the clinical agency.
2. No jewelry is to be worn except wedding band (no stones), one pair of small post earrings, and wristwatch.
3. No visible facial, tongue or body piercing, jewelry or tattoos.
4. Hair must be clean, worn off the shoulder, and back from face while in uniform. Makeup should be subtle and in good taste. Neatly trimmed beards and mustaches are permitted.
5. No chewing gum while in the nursing laboratory or in the clinical setting.
6. The uniform must be clean and neat. Students will maintain personal hygiene including oral care. Students will bathe daily and use deodorant to prevent offensive body odor and /or cigarette smell. No cologne, after-shave, and or perfumes are permitted. Undergarments should be of discreet color, no thongs are permitted.
7. White socks must be worn with the uniform. Uniform style shoes and laces must be clean and white with low heels and closed. Athletic shoes are permitted only if they do not have colored logos or designs. Shoe soles must be solid (no springs, shocks, etc).
8. Fingernails must be clean, short, with NO nail polish. Artificial nails, nail wraps, or extenders are not permitted in any setting.
9. Pagers and cell phones disrupt lectures and clinical experiences. Place on silent code or turn it off. Students using cell phones for communication of any type or taking pictures in the classroom, nursing laboratory, or on the clinical unit face disciplinary action that may include permanent dismissal.
